World Sustainable Transport Day is established by the UN

World Sustainable Transport Day, established by the UN on November 26, is an opportunity to highlight the importance of road freight transport. The CETM celebrates this initiative, highlighting that 95% of goods are transported by road, representing 4.8% of GDP and generating around 600,000 direct jobs.

In this context, the CETM calls for sharing its commemorative image, remembering that the sector contributes significantly to the economy and the well-being of the population. In addition, it highlights the sector’s efforts to reduce emissions through investments in less polluting fleets.

The Transportation Council of the CEOE, including the CETM, joins the celebration, highlighting the vital importance of transportation and underlining the need to overcome regulatory fragmentation and coordinate actions between Administrations. In this sense, it urges to consider the needs of freight transport when establishing measures towards decarbonization, advocating for a fair and accessible transition for all.
